The Resources Regulator continues to monitor the failure of a tailings dam wall at the Cadia mine.

At this stage the release has been contained by the South Tailings Dam and a range of technical specialists are currently onsite assessing the situation.

The Regulator responded to the incident and will maintain a monitoring role from an environmental and work health and safety perspective.

The Regulator will work closely with the Dam Safety Committee to ensure the work health safety of all workers at the site.

The Regulator is conducting ongoing enquiries in relation to the cause and circumstances of the incident.

Dams Safety NSW is the lead government agency in respect to the current and ongoing safety assessment of the dam.
