The NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Resources Regulator has announced it has commenced prosecution proceedings against the operator of a quarry near Oberon in western NSW.

Court Attendance Notices have been issued to Mudgee Stone Co Pty Ltd and one of its directors.

The Regulator will allege that unauthorised mining took place at the quarry, located about six kilometres south-east of Oberon.

The Regulator will also allege that inspectors were hindered in their investigations at the quarry in 2015 when they were prevented access to the site.

The cases are set down for first mention in the Downing Centre Local Court on 28 November 2017.

As the matter is now before the court, further details will not be released.
