On 5 June 2015 the Electricity Network Assets (Authorised Transactions) Act 2015 came into force, transferring regulation of the NSW electricity networks from the Department of Industry to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART).

Under the provisions of the Electricity Supply Act 1995 each network operator must produce an annual report covering the following major topics:

  • Asset management including quality of supply
  • Bushfire risk management
  • Contestable work scheme
  • Customer installation safety
  • Network employee safety
  • Network management including complaints
  • Network planning including demand management
  • Public electrical safety awareness campaigns
  • Public safety
  • Reliability
